| "Fire. As old as the universe. It has always been useful. Dead wood into living light. What camper doesn't have good campfire memories? Fires charm, hypnotize, warm and cheer, their bright colorful lights raising the spirit and tapping the imagination. In creating a campfire, I am lighting a beacon, illuminating that which needs to be seen clearly, revealing the hidden truths around me, and perhaps realizing that which will help me grow closer to nature and all life. By creating a painting called "Mountain Campfire" I hoped to share my campfire experiences and feelings. I was told I could not paint a fire scene because I was known for my wildlife and fire scenes are dark but I went ahead any and "Mountain Campfire" was one of my most popular pieces and opened the door to other fire scenes." - Stephen Lyman |
