  The Art of
      STEPHEN LYMAN - canvas prints

When Stephen Lyman died in a hiking accident in Yosemite National Park, he left a legacy of beautiful artwork and remarkable success. The enduring appeal of Lyman's art is that it beckons us to get out into the wilderness - be it in a national park or right in our own backyards. To many, Steve Lyman did with art what his inspiration John Muir did with words: to communicate the value of the wilderness. Steve began trying to find an audience for his works in his early 20s and within a decade he became known for his innovative paintings of firelight, wildlife and landscapes. Steve loved his native Idaho and enjoyed a rich family life, organic gardening, designing a new home and earning his pilot's license in between his frequent visits to Yosemite. During his lifetime he was honored as "Artist of the Year" at the 1991 Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Show and an "Encore Artist" in 1995.
